Syrup is extracted from the pods of the carob tree and has a mild, sweet flavor. It can be used as sweetener for cakes, tahini, hot and cold drinks, yoghourt, ice cream and rice. It is a great substitute for honey and sugar and great food avoring liquid. Carob syrup is also known as a traditional medicine for cough and sore throat. It is high in calcium. Only cretan carob used. Its flavour may differ depending on the variety has been used without altering its nutritional value.
